NOTE: Beginning with December, 2009, The recipes that were in the December, 2009 newsletter are all in the Recipe Box on the website. They are more easily accessible and can be copied better there. Gradually I will be moving all the recipes from the newsletters through the years into the site Recipe Box, and deleting them here. Just go to the Recipe Box at the top of each page, and find what you want!
Welcome to Recipes of the Month
'Way back in the nineties, I worked as a ranger at Acadia National Park. The staff had frequent potlucks, and folks wanted each other's recipes. So I began to collect the popular recipes from folks who came to the potluck, print them out, and put them in an envelope in each of the staff lounges for people to pick up.
After I retired from the park in '98, I continued to email recipes to friends still working there. When I would mention it to friends or family, they wanted to be included. Every year my mailing list got bigger. Unfortunately, I did not save those earlier recipe collections, thoughI still have the recipes somewhere in my vast stack of recipes.
People who read the newsletter sent me more recipes, and on it went. In November, 2000, I started saving the Recipes of the Month that I sent out, and that's where these page start.
I have published, on the Recipes on the Month pages, all those newsletters in sequence, including comments from the participants and myself. Each of these recipes can be read here on the Recipes of the Month pages, or you can find them through the alphabetical Recipe Box on the home and index pages.
I make no claim to continuity in style, abbreviations used, or good spelling and grammar in these newsletters. I just wrote for the enjoyment of putting them together, and let the details take care of themselves. They are copied and pasted in here from the original emails that I sent out.

Here is dinner in apartment 6 at 86 Via Faenze in Florence, Italy. Diners are husband Bob and friends Marian and Sydney Rutland of England. Our dinners in Italy were generally fresh Italian bread from the corner bakery, red Italian wine, cheeses, olives, and fruit. It was our version of The Mediterranean Diet.
